This policy explains what personal data we collect through www.scalemarketer.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.

The site is operated by UDISYSTEM, a business registered in India trading as ScaleMarketer. UDISYSTEMis the data controller for the information described here, and is referred to below as “we” or “us”.

We are based at JP Nagar 1st Phase, Bangalore, Karnataka, India and work with ecommerce brands in India, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and the Gulf. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the UK or EU GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act. Those rights are set out below.

What we collect

Information you give us

Our contact form, audit booking form and playbook download form ask for some or all of the following:

  • Your name and work email address
  • Your brand or company name and store URL
  • Your role at the business
  • Commercial context you choose to share — monthly revenue band, monthly ad spend band, advertising channels currently running, product vertical
  • Anything you type into the free-text message field

The revenue and ad spend fields are ranges, not exact figures, and we ask for them only to judge whether we are a sensible fit for your business. You can leave optional fields blank.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, referring website
  • IP address and user agent — recorded when you submit a form, and passed to advertising platforms as described below
  • Advertising click identifiers — if you arrive from an ad, the URL may carry an identifier such as fbclid (Meta), gclid (Google) or a Reddit click ID, along with campaign tags (utm_source, utm_campaign and similar)

Local storage

We store a small amount of data in your browser’s local storage rather than in cookies:

  • The advertising identifiers and campaign tags described above, so that if you arrive from an ad and submit a form several pages later, we can still tell which campaign brought you. We keep both your first visit and your most recent one.
  • A flag recording that you have unlocked the free playbook, so you are not asked for your email twice.

You can clear this at any time through your browser’s “clear site data” controls. Nothing in local storage identifies you by name.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and deliver what you asked for — necessary to take steps at your request before entering a contract.
  • To send the playbook email series — with your consent, given when you submit the download form. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep a record of enquiries in our CRM — our legitimate interest in running and following up a sales pipeline.
  • To measure which advertising works — our legitimate interest in not wasting money on ineffective advertising. Where required in your jurisdiction, we rely on your consent for advertising cookies and similar technologies.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent spam — our legitimate interest in protecting the service.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it with the service providers we use to run the business:

  • HubSpot (United States) — customer relationship management. We store your enquiry, the qualification answers above, and the advertising source that brought you.
  • Resend (United States) — sends our notification emails and the playbook email series, and stores your email address as a subscriber.
  • Vercel (United States) — hosts the website and processes server logs, which include IP addresses.
  • Sanity (United States / European Union) — content management for the articles and pages you read. It does not receive your form data.
  • Google Analytics (United States) — website usage measurement.
  • Meta Platforms (United States) — advertising measurement. Where our Meta advertising is active, we send conversion events both from your browser and from our server. Your email address is converted into an irreversible cryptographic hash before it is sent; we do not send Meta your email in readable form.
  • Reddit (United States) — advertising measurement, on the same basis as Meta, including hashing your email address before it is sent.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.

International transfers

Most of the providers above are based in the United States, so your data will be transferred outside India, the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where we transfer data from the UK or EEA, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard offered by the provider under its data processing terms.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and CRM records — up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted or anonymised, unless you become a client.
  • Client records — for the duration of the engagement and for as long afterwards as tax and accounting law requires.
  • Email subscribers — until you unsubscribe, and then only a suppression record so we do not email you again by mistake.
  • Analytics and advertising data— according to each platform’s own retention settings, typically 14 months or less.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop using it for marketing at any time.

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you additionally have the right to restrict or object to processing, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You may complain to your national supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.

If you are in India, you may request access, correction, updating and erasure of your data, nominate another person to exercise your rights, and raise a grievance with us before approaching the Data Protection Board of India.

If you are in California, you may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, request deletion, and opt out of the “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not sell personal information. We do not knowingly process the personal information of anyone under 16.

To exercise any of these rights, email madhukar@scalemarketer.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not disclose your data to someone else.

Opting out of advertising measurement

You can limit the tracking described above:

  • Clear or block the site’s local storage using your browser’s privacy settings
  • Use your browser’s tracking protection, or an ad blocker, which will prevent the Meta, Reddit and Google Analytics scripts from loading
  • Adjust ad personalisation in your Meta and Google account settings

Because we also send conversion events from our server, blocking scripts in your browser may not prevent every measurement event. If you want us to stop processing your data for advertising measurement entirely, email us at the address above and we will action it.

Children

This site sells business services and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the business or the tools we use change. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you by email where we can.
